The Armed Forces Council is chaired by the Chief of the Defence Staff, generally meets at least once per month, and includes the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff, the Environmental Chiefs of Staff, and other senior military advisors.

- Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee - Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy
- Lieutenant-General Jocelyn Paul - Acting Commander of the Canadian Army
- Lieutenant-General Al Meinzinger - Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force
- Major-General Steve Boivin - Commander of the Canadian Joint Operations Command
- Major-General David Abboud - Chief of Defence Intelligence
- Brigadier-General Steve Hunter - Commander of Special Operations
- Lieutenant-General Lise Bourgon - Chief Military Personnel
- Rear-Admiral M.A. Hopper - Chief of Reserves
- Rear-Admiral Geneviève Bernatchez - Judge Advocate General
- Brigadier-General Simon Trudeau - Canadian Forces Provost Marshal
- Brigadier-General Guy Belisle - Chaplain General
